Information The Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is the federal government institution that
provides insurance up to $100,000 for deposits in FDIC insured banks and
savings associations. Additionally, effective April 1, 2006, federal
law provides up to $250,000 in deposit insurance coverage for self-directed
retirement accounts. Understanding the amount of coverage is critical
for individuals who have in excess of $100,000 on deposit in one insured
institution. Understanding what products are not insured is also
critical to all individuals who may invest, through insured institutions, in
products that are not deposits. The FDIC web site provides a large
amount of information on this topic to aid consumers in understanding the
amount of coverage they have. We provide the following link, directly
to the FDIC's page on insurance, for more information. The Arkansas
State Bank Department is not responsible for the contents of the FDIC web site. http://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/insuringdeposits/index.html
