In May 2006, the Texas Legislature raised the taxes on cigarettes to $1.41 per pack of cigarettes with 20 cigarettes
per pack. The increase took effect on January 1, 2007 which eliminated the Texas Border Zone. The current Arkansas
Cigarette Tax is $0.59 per pack on cigarettes with 20 cigarettes per pack.
The current minimum wholesale markup is 4% of the wholesaler's basic cost and the current minimum retail markup is 7 1/2% of the retailer's basic cost.
