Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve names Jane English
as the new Arkansas Chair
North Little Rock, Arkansas, Arkansas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, is pleased to announce the selection of Jane English of North Little Rock, AR as the new ESGR Chair for Arkansas.
ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers' principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce. Mrs. Jane English will take charge of Arkansas ESGR and oversee the implementation of the mission.
The Chair is an official Department of Defense volunteer position. Mrs. Jane English will take an oath of office and will be sworn in as the new Arkansas Chair during a formal ceremony at HQ ESGR, Alexandria, Virginia on September 25, 2013 with an effective date of October 1, 2013. Mrs. English will serve at the pleasure of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. The position carries a three-year term and the protocol of a military two-star flag officer. Mrs. English will provide the leadership and vision for a team of more than 45 dedicated volunteers that are spread all across Arkansas.
Mrs. Jane English is currently an Arkansas State Senator and also served in the State House of Representative for two terms. She has a degree from Arkansas Tech University in Economics and Finance. She has a long and distinguished record of association with numerous community volunteer organizations.
With almost half of our Nation's military force residing in the Guard and Reserve, Mrs. English will have a direct impact on these brave men and women and their civilian employers.
