Little Rock, Arkansas (January 8, 2013) -

Human trafficking is the second-largest criminal industry in the world. Every year traffickers take advantage of millions of adults and children forcing them into contract slavery, forced labor and sexual trafficking. National hotlines take dozens of calls every year reporting suspected cases of trafficking in Arkansas.
Human Trafficking Awareness Day draws attention to efforts to eradicate modern-day slavery.
Rep. David Meeks and Sen. Missy Irvin invite the media and the public to attend a Human Trafficking Awareness Day event at the State Capitol Rotunda at 10am this Friday, January 11.

Rep. Meeks and Sen. Irvin will discuss legislation they intend to file in the upcoming session designed to strengthen Arkansas's laws regarding trafficking.

Representatives from local anti-human trafficking groups including PATH, Rush Hour Traffic, and Not for Sale will also be in attendance.
