I would like to take a moment and welcome you again to the County Election Commission. To help you become more familiar with your duties and responsibilities, the State Board of Election Commissioners is offering two training sessions for new election commissioners. This training is completely voluntary and is intended to provide a broad overview for those individuals new to the election commissions who have never attended a training conducted by the State Board. These training sessions may be particularly beneficial as you prepare for the Annual School Election or for an upcoming special election.
If you are interested in attending one of the training sessions please let us know at your earliest convenience. Likewise, if you are unable to attend one of these sessions but would like to suggest an alternative date to the ones below, please feel free to contact our office; we are happy to accommodate your training needs in any way that we can and will schedule additional training sessions if needed.
Agendas and additional information will be provided to attendees prior to the training date.
Session Three (Web-based):
When: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 30th
Where: Web-Based Training
Additional details for joining the online training will be provided to you after you RSVP
Additional information regarding training for election officials may be found in Ark. Code Annotated § 7-4-109 which requires all county election commissioners to be trained prior to the 2016 Preferential Primary Election. Schedules for these mandatory trainings will be finalized in the coming months and all commissioners will be required to attend one of these mandatory sessions even if they attended one of the voluntary training sessions mentioned above. Also, compensation and mileage reimbursement will only be available for attending a mandatory session and not available for attending a voluntary training session.
In addition, Act 1253 of 2015 requires county clerks or their designees to attend training conducted by the State Board. Schedules for county clerk training and poll worker certification training will also be finalized in the coming months and notice will be provided accordingly.
Lastly, I would encourage you to continually visit our web-site at www.arkansas.gov/sbec. The Legislative Summaries and Frequently Asked Questions sections have recently been updated with information from the 2015 legislative session and may be of particular interest to you. A copy of the legislative summaries is also attached to this email.
To reserve a spot for an upcoming training session please contact Jon Davidson at 1-800-411-6996 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Should you have any other questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact our office as well.
