Engineer Intern Licensure Overview (see below for Professional Engineer

How to Begin
Contact the Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors at 501-682-2824 or via e-mail stephenw.haralson@arkansas.gov to obtain the current Engineer Intern Licensure Packet by mail. The forms are also available as Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat PDF files and can be downloaded from the table below.  The FREE Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the forms.  Click HERE to obtain the Acrobat Reader program.
Instructions
The Application must be typewritten, not handwritten, and include one recent photograph of applicant. Please do not use staples, we prefer paperclips and please include your work extension if applicable. When completing the Work Experience Form, be sure to include all experience after age 18 or High School, even if it is non-engineer related. All time must be accounted for, leave no date gaps between engagements. Use as much detail about your duties and responsibilites as possible because the experience will be judged and evaluated on the information furnished. On your last engagement make sure it is "to present (the date of your application)". Include the reference's name and registration/license number if any.  Payment should be made to the "PE and PLS fund" and must accompany the application. Our mailing address is P.O. All applications will be returned immediately if these instructions are not followed.

Fees
Application*:
Engineer Intern, non-student: $50.00
Engineer Intern, student: $10.00

Examination*:
Fundamentals of Engineering, non-student and retakes: $65.00
Fundamentals of Engineering, student: $30.00

The application fee and the examination fee must be submitted with the application.

Other Charges*:
Administration Fee: After your application has been approved, you will receive information on how to contact NCEES, to whom you will pay a $70.00 administration fee for the NCEES examination.

*ALL PAYMENTS SHALL BE NON-REFUNDABLE, UNLESS WAIVED BY BOARD ACTION!
Examination
Examinations are given in April and October of each year.  Applications to be considered for the April exam must be in the Board's office AND COMPLETE (application, work experience record, three (3) reference forms, and college verification) by January 1st. Applications to be considered for the October exam must be in the Board's office AND COMPLETE (application, work experience record, three (3) reference forms, and college verification) by July 1st.
Notification
Upon successful verification of submitted information, the application will be reviewed and the applicant will be notified by mail of the decision. Examination results will be also be sent by mail.

Please do not use staples, we prefer paperclips and please include your work extension number if applicable. For Comity applicants using a current NCEES Record, we will accept the following items from your record:

college verification;
Board verification of your exams;
work experience record; and
references (we will also accept your references strong>IF they are less that one (1) year old (we need a total of five (5) references that are less than one year ole). Additional references must be on the Arkansas reference form.

Attention Comity Applicants: If you will be signing and sealing plans for a firm, the firm must also be licensed by having a valid Certificate of Authorization (forms located at the bottom of this page) on file.

OFFERING TO PERFORM, CONTRACTING FOR OR INITIATING ENGINEERING SERVICES PRIOR TO THE APPLICANT OR HIS FIRM BECOMING LICENSED MAY BE A VIOLATION OF THE BOARD’S LAWS AND RULES (SEE A.C.A. § 17-30-102 AND ARTICLE 16 OF THE BOARD’S RULES ON THIS WEBSITE). IF A VIOLATION OCCURS IT COULD SUBJECT THE APPLICANT AND FIRM TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND FINES AND/OR SIGNIFICANTLY DELAY OR PROHIBIT THE APPLICANT OR FIRM FROM BECOMING LICENSED.

Original: $75.00
Comity: $200.00

Examination*:
Principles & Practice of Engineering: $180.00
Principles & Practice of Engineering, Structural II: $750.00

The application fee and the examination fee must be submitted with the application.

Temporary Permit: $150.00 (A temporary permit for sixty (60) calendar days is a courtesy extended to those authorized to practice during the period or time required to process a comity application and obtain Arkansas licensure.

PLEASE NOTE, there are different renewal forms for odd or even numbered licenses.  Download the form according to your odd or even numbered license.  INCORRECT FORMS RECEIVED BY THE BOARD’S OFFICE WILL RESULT IN A DELAY IN PROCESSING YOUR RENEWAL!
