Salute to Greatness Gala
Each year the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission holds a Salute to Greatness Banquet, honoring individuals, companies, and organizations from across the state who have distinguished themselves through community service. Observing Dr. King's tenet that "Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.", the commission honors many unsung heroes for their unselfish contribution to the welfare of others through unselfish commitment and uncompensated service.

This evening-gown and black-tie-optional event is generally held during the week prior to Dr. King's birthday celebration. It has received endorsements from Arkansas's Governor, Little Rock's Mayor, US Senators and Representatives, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, and a host of other State Officials. The evening's program includes dinner, awards presentations, and entertainment. On average, attendance ranges from eight hundred to a thousand people.

The following awards are usually presented:

Individual Community Service Awards (4)
Youth Achievement Award
Non-Profit Organization Award
Small Business Award
Corporate Award
Drum Major Award
Dr. Josetta Wilkins Courage Award
