Mission Statement
The mission of the Arkansas SHARP Association is to continuously improve safety and health performance through mentoring, networking, promoting awareness, and providing program assistance.
Mentoring
- Train and encourage employees to learn and be involved in safety and health and the SHARP program at your company.
- Allow other companies to enter your facility to see how you carry out your safety programs.
- Be actively involved in local, regional, and state safety associations. Participate, support and/or sponsor safety conferences and meetings in your area of the state.
- Encourage other companies in your area to be involved in safety and health associations, conferences, meetings, the SHARP program etc.
- Answer questions about safety and health issues and day-to-day operations of your safety and health programs.
Networking
- Sharing ideas, safety slogans, training ideas, safety and health promotions, etc. within the association.
- E-Mail distribution list for association members.
- Provide a web-site link to SHARP companies that will include contact information for each company, information on the SHARP program, and resource materials.
- Give potential SHARP sites a contact list of the companies on the SHARP program in Arkansas.
Promoting Awareness
- Conduct a conference for SHARP companies (and potential SHARP companies) to discuss topics that will keep the association members on the cutting edge of safety and health issues. Seminars available for upper management, safety and health coordinators, and safety team members.
Benefits Of The Sharp Program:
- Lower injury and workers' compensation rates.
- It helps improve productivity.
- Higher profit margin for the company, so there's more money for employee salaries, facility improvements, etc.
- Recognized as being a good/safe place to work.
- Improves the relationships between employees and management.
- Employees are more involved in safety and health programs and working with other employees on safety in the facility.
- It helps develop a safety culture in your company.
- Insurance renewals are easier and cheaper.
- It improves customer respect.
- It helps encourage companies to develop and maintain a good safety and health program.
- Federal OSHA doesn't conduct general-category inspections.
