A great big apple!
Nutrition - For Kids
A balanced diet is important for everyone. Eating right and staying healthy affects your entire life. Poor eating habits are directly linked to the burden of chronic disease in Arkansas and the increased risk of Arkansans.

In 2001, the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey indicated that:

  • 14% were overweight
  • 80% did not eat the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables per day

It's not a bad thing to eat healthy and the food doesn't have to taste bad either! There are lots of healthy and nutritious foods that taste great! You just have to make sure you eat a well-balanced meal with items from all of the food groups. Oh and remember, portions are key too, don't overeat, that is unhealthy.
