Artee Williams

Artee Williams is the current Director of the Department of Workforce Services, formerly the Arkansas Employment Security Division. He is Arkansas' 19th Director of the Agency - and, the first Director to lead the Agency under its new name.

Williams was appointed on March 19, 2004, by Governor Mike Huckabee. He was reappointed in 2007, by newly elected Governor Mike Beebe. It was during Williams' tenure that the name, Employment Security Department, was changed to Department of Workforce Services.

Director Williams' lengthy public service career includes his recent role as Deputy Director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), where he oversaw Finance and Administration, Information Systems, Procurement, Contracting and Human Resources. He was also responsible for Children and Family Services, Youth Services, and Services for the Blind. Prior to becoming Deputy Director of DHS, Williams served for 20 years as State Personnel Administrator in the Department of Finance and Administration.

Director Artee Williams continues to oversee an expansion of the programs, operations, and partnerships of the Agency. Under his stewardship, local DWS offices have both grown and been strategically positioned throughout the state to better meet the needs of the citizens of Arkansas.
