Arkansas's Gov2Go Personal Government Assistant Wins National Innovative Technology Award

LITTLE ROCK-The state of Arkansas’s citizen-centric personal government assistant, Gov2Go, won top honors from among four award finalists in the category of Emerging and Innovative Technology in the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) 28th consecutive State IT Recognition Awards at its annual conference this week in Orlando, Florida.

The prestigious award program honors outstanding information technology achievements in the public sector and recognizes states with exceptional programs that have made an important contribution to the operation of state government. Twelve initiatives were chosen as award recipients for outstanding achievement in information technology in state government.

“Arkansas has an impressive resume of national firsts in government technology achievements,” said Mark Myers, state chief technology officer and director of the Arkansas Department of Information Systems. “We are honored to be recognized by NASCIO for Gov2Go as another example of how we continually work to create innovative ways to connect citizens to government.”

Developed by the Information Network of Arkansas (INA), Gov2Go is the nation’s first digital government assistant that offers a personalized way for Arkansans to interact with government by learning about its users, keeping track of their important deadlines such as property tax payments, car tag renewals and property assessments and sending reminders to the user’s computer, mobile device or Apple watch.

“The recipients honored tonight, as well as all nominated projects, demonstrate the integral and transformative nature information technology can have on state government and the experiences of citizens,” said Delaware Chief Information Officer James Collins and Indiana Chief Information Officer Dewand Neely in a press release issued by NASCIO.

In August, Gov2Go and ClaimItAR.com were both announced by NASCIO as award finalists. ClaimItAR was named a finalist for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology. ClaimItAR helps Arkansans find and claim lost property in minutes on a mobile device and automates a previously paper-based unclaimed property filing process. ClaimItAR.com was also recognized as a NASCIO award finalist in 2015 in the Government to Citizen category.

Gov2Go has won several other national awards for innovation including StateScoop 50 State Innovation of the Year in 2016, finalist in the Government Computer News 2016 “DIG IT” Award competition, finalist in the 2015 Amazon Web Services City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge, and top eight finalist in the American Council of Technology’s Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) 2016 Igniting Innovation Award challenge.
