- What is a continuous position ?
A continuous position is a position that is continuously advertised. DHS is continuously looking for people to fill these positions. Once you apply for a continuous position, your application is kept on file for 60 days. Qualified applicants are contacted for continuous positions once a vacancy becomes available.
Applicant must submit a new application or Application Renewal Form (if there are no changes) before the end of the 60 day period in order to receive further consideration. Applicant may also call 501-682-1001 or e-mail dhs.recruiting@arkansas.gov to request application renewal.
- What is an advertised position?
An advertised position is a recently vacant position. These positions are advertised with a closing date. All interested applicants must apply by the specified closing date for the position.
- How do I apply online?
You may apply online at www.arstatejobs.com. You must set up a Username and Password in order to apply here.
- What if I'm having trouble with the Web site?

- How do I know my application was received?
When you go to www.arstatejobs.com, go to Account Login. Using the username and password that you created, log into the site. You will be taken to another screen that has three tabs. These tabs read, Home, Preferences, and My Application. Click on the Home tab. you should see a list that reads, Positions you have applied for. If the job is listed here, then it was received by the agency.
- Should I call the agency once I have applied?
There is no need to contact the agency once you have applied for the job. The agency will receive the application once you apply for the job. You can see a list of jobs for which you have applied by clicking on the Home tab. You should see a list that reads, Positions you have applied for. If the job is listed there, it has been received by the agency.
- What do I do if I forget my Username and/or Password?
Click Reset Login. You will be asked to verify your SSN, street address and date of birth. Then enter the code that appears in the box on the form. Press submit. You will be shown all usernames associated with the information you entered. Then click reset password, and a temporary password will be displayed onscreen. Use that password to log into your account.
- Have I applied for the Job once I have completed my application?
Completing the application does not indicate that you have applied for any job. Once you have completed that application, you need to search for the job for which you want to apply. You are able to search by position name or the job ID number. Once you have found the job, simply click Apply for Job.
