CHILD MALTREATMENT ASSESSMENT SERVICES
The Division of Children and Family Services maintains, via an interagency agreement with the Arkansas State Police an around-the-clock statewide intake process for accepting reports of alleged child maltreatment.  During state fiscal year 2001, a total of 19,822 maltreatment reports were received with 19,722 of those reports assessed.  There were 13,237 reports in which the investigation was determined as unsubstantiated, 709 that could not be completed because the family could not be located, five reports in which the investigation was exempted for religious reasons and 100 reports in which the results of the investigation had not been  completed.  Of the completed child maltreatment assessments, 29.26% (5,771) revealed preponderance of evidence of child maltreatment.
