THE COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

The purpose of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program is to provide a range of services and activities having a measurable and potentially major impact on causes of poverty in the state.  Through the eighteen Community Action Agencies (CAAs) across the state, a range of programs are offered to help low-income persons become independent and self-sufficient.  These programs and services include advocacy, organizing, and development of institutions as a means of improving community conditions.  This program enables low-income persons to become more employable and better trained to handle their finances, to improve their housing and to make use of social and human services available to them.
