This program works with DAAS, but is not part of its Division.  During SFY 1999, this program underwent reorganization and has no numbers to report.

State referrals given:  88, 911.  Public Benefits for Arkansas Seniors disturbed:  1,500.  Directory of Aging Programs distributed:  200.  Age-related pamphlets distributed:  15, 000.

Hours given by 12,372 volunteers:  512,623.  Volunteer services worth:  $5,612,920.

 

Long-Term Care Ombudsman

Facility complaints:  881.  Facility visits:  2,324.  Training sessions of 1,500 facility staff:  28.

Resident and family council meetings attended:  70.

Aging Arkansas

Newspaper

 

Participated monthly by submitting articles for statewide newspaper with circulation of nearly 40,000.

 

Special Events

 

·        Arkansas Aging Conference had over 400 participants.

·        A 55-member Aging Services Volunteer Advisory Council met quarterly to share information and promote volunteerism.

·        Arkansas Coalition on Mental Wellness and Successful Aging met quarterly.

·        The Governor's Advisory Council on Aging (GACA), a 36 member Advisory Council, met quarterly.
