Course Description
:

This course will address appropriate service provision, supervision requirements and strategies, documentation requirements, and developmental of appropriate programming.  Each new applicant for Early Intervention Certification must complete this course within 90 days of certification.  This course is not required annually.

Course Description
:

This course is designed to familiarize individuals of the Early Intervention Program and allow opportunity to obtain information relative to serving children with developmental delays in Arkansas. Person(s) whom may refer a child to the program may include, but are not limited to professional from health care, service delivery, day care, families, etc.

Participants will gain knowledge of the Early Intervention program, services and referral information.

 Evaluation Certification Course

Course Description
:

 This course is designed and is mandatory for Developmental Therapists/Assistants, Physical Therapists/Assistants, Occupational Therapists/Assistants, Speech Pathologists/Assistants.  Other personnel who will serve as “evaluation representatives” at Individualized Family Service Plan Meetings must also attend.  Upon successful completion of this course and completion of a competency-based assessment with a minimum score of 70, the participant will receive certification to perform evaluations in the area of service provided or to serve as an evaluation representative at IFSP meetings.  Course work will address First Connections and DDS eligibility criteria, administration and interpretation of evaluation instruments, narrative report requirements, informed clinical opinion, service level determination, and appropriate recommendations.  Each new applicant for service coordination must complete this course unless he/she attends the 4-day service coordination course.

Course Description
:

This course is designed to familiarize individuals with the Prior Authorization Process.

Participant(s) will gain knowledge of forms, documentation, voucher agreement(s), and hands-on experience of completing a prior authorization.

Additionally, participant(s) will gain knowledge of funding entities involved in the prior authorization process and the ability to access the avenues when needed.

Transition Workshop

Course Description
:

 Participants will gain knowledge of federal regulations and state guidelines governing transition from early intervention to early childhood services, and then to public school kindergarten.  The transition process, timelines requirements, and best practices will be reviewed and discussed.  This class is taught jointly by DDS and Department of Education staff.  This course may be credited toward continuing education hours for service coordination, well as speech, physical, occupational and developmental therapies.  Each new applicant for service coordination must complete this course with a minimum score of 70% on the exam unless he/she attends the 4-day service coordination course.

This course is designed to train individuals as Surrogate Parent Trainer(s).

Participant(s) will become knowledgeable of the regulations governing surrogate parent and the process, forms, documentation and responsibilities of someone being trained as a Surrogate Parent.
