The
ARS Field
Program operates 20 statewide offices for
persons with physical, mental, cognitive or sensory disabilities. Persons
who wish to apply for services must first contact a rehabilitation
counselor. Counselors are assigned to each of the state's 75 counties.
Counselors regularly travel to locations within their assigned counties
to determine client
eligibility and bring agency services closer to
individuals needing them.
There are components within the rehabilitation system that
provide specialized programs, such as transition services for students
who are finishing school; services to help those who are presently
receiving public assistance become employed, and therefore able to
provide for themselves, and services for people with special
communication needs
ARS also operates the Hot Springs Rehabilitation
Center,
which provides vocational training through the Arkansas
Career Training Institute and medical services through the HSRC
Hospital. Technology information is available through the Agency's Increasing
Capabilities Access Network (ICAN). Job placement services are provided by
the Association of Rehabilitation, Industry and Business.
