The
Child Welfare Agency Licensing Unit in DCFS is charged with
the enforcement of the Child Welfare Agency Licensing Act 1041
of 1997. The Unit inspects and monitors
Residential, Emergency, Psychiatric, Sexual Offenders programs
and Placement agencies, in accordance with the Minimum
Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies. The unit
makes recommendations to the Child Welfare Agency Review Board
at their monthly meetings for licensure of various facilities
or if the need arises such as adverse action against a
facility found to be in violation of the standards.
Monitoring visits are conducted quarterly for Residential
facilities and at least yearly for Placement agencies.
New licensing studies are conducted as needed.
