The Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) use
state and federal funding to purchase services for clients who
come to the attention of the Division.
Clients enter the services system at any point based on
their need for services. DCFS
field staff provide case planning, referral and case management
services. The Division approves and supervises foster homes.
An array of services may be purchased from a variety of
organizations including child welfare agencies, private
psychiatric hospitals, community-based agencies, universities,
other state divisions, licensed individuals, and hospitals.
Services range from prevention or other permanent living
situations to adoption.
