Pat Calhoun and Marvis Williams recently received special honors from Governor Mike Huckabee for giving outstanding service to the State and also to the public. The award was presented by Bill Hardin on March 11, 2004.
The honor was bestowed from Governor Huckabee in response to a letter from Patricia Anne Howard, a citizen of Tumbling Shoals, regarding her interaction with Calhoun and Williams during the troubling aftermath of her son's death. She admits that she called the lab often and that she was "sometimes impatient, sometimes anguished, always grieving."
Mrs. Howard thanked Pat and Marvis in her letter saying that she wanted to "thank and commend them for the compassion and empathy they have so freely given."
