Act 1159
Dear Child Care Provider:
In accordance with Act 1159 of the 84th General Assembly, which amended the Arkansas Children's Product Safety Act, the Arkansas Office of the Attorney General is now required to make the list of recalled children's products available to the public by posting it on the Internet. Thus, my office will no longer be mailing the list of recalled children's products in the future.
However, Act 1159 further requires my Office to provide assistance to a child care facility in obtaining a list of recalled children's items by providing its name and mailing address to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), for the purpose of receiving the list and quarterly updates through a mailing sent directly form the CPSC, or by providing the CPSC with the facilities e-mail address so it may receive the list and updates by e-mail notification. Both of these services are provided free of charge. If you would like our assistance in this, please fill out the enclosed form and return it to:

Our initial mail-out to child care facilities included child product safety recalls announced since the inception of the CPSC in 1973 through February 28, 2002. Subsequent updates covered the period up to and including December, 2002. Our last mail update is enclosed with this letter and covers products that have been the subject of a recall beginning January 1, 2003, and ending March 31, 2003.
Please add these updates to your child-product-recall binder. If you have any questions concerning this information or have other questions regarding the Arkansas Children's Product Safety Act, please do not hesitate to contact us at 501-682-2341 or 1-800-482-8982.
