Arkansas Early Childhood Curriculum

The Arkansas Departments of Human Services and Education, in collaboration with statewide stakeholders, have established a list of curriculum resources that align with the Arkansas Early Childhood Education Framework.

Arkansas Better Chance program must use resources from this list or an approved self-developed curriculum. Programs earning Quality Approval accreditation are encouraged to use curriculum materials from the list or to submit a self-developed curriculum for approval.

Although the curriculum resources listed here have met the criteria for use in Arkansas, the most successful curriculum is based on the interests and needs of the children. Teachers and administrators should expect to adapt published curriculum materials for use with each unique group of children.

Programs that choose to develop their own curriculum may seek approval of that curriculum by contacting Sherrill Archer (501-683-0973) or Jamie Morrison (501-683-0975) with the Arkansas Better Chance Program at the DHS Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education (DCCECE).

Technical Assistance in curriculum development is available from the DCCECE, through Arkansas State University Childhood Services, 1-888-429-1585, or via website at www.chs.astate.edu
