Requirements for Continuing Education for Pharmacists
The requirements are:
Thirty (30) hours of continuing
education every biennium.
Twelve (12) of these hours must
be live contact hours related to patient care
or drug therapy.
What are the biennial periods?
January 1, 2002 to
December 31, 2003
January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2005
January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007
January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2009
Etc.
Deciphering the last three digits of ACPE numbers:
L = live program
H = home study or other mediated program
C = both live and home study
01 = drug therapy
02 = AIDS related therapy
03 = law topics
04 = general topics

Requirements for a New Pharmacist License by Examination
Satisfactory proof of graduation
from a college or school of pharmacy approved
by the Board.
A completed application for licensure
and payment of the appropriate fees.
Beginning March 1, 2004, successful
completion of a criminal background check.
Successful completion of the NAPLEX
exam
Successful completion of the Arkansas
Jurisprudence Exam
Successful completion of 2,000
hours of approved intern hours of experience.

Requirements for a Pharmacist License by Reciprocity
A completed application
for licensure and payment of the appropriate
fees. Please be sure to attach
a copy of your birth certificate and proof
of continuing education hours from the previous
year.
Successful completion of the NABP
Preliminary Application for License Transfer;
Beginning March 1, 2004, successful
completion of a criminal background check (if
practicing
in Arkansas.)
Successful completion of the Arkansas
Jurisprudence Exam
Appearance before the Arkansas
Board of Pharmacy.

Requirements for a Pharmacy Technician Registration
The applicant must be
a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.;
The applicant must be of good
moral character;
Beginning March 1, 2004, the applicant
must complete a criminal background check;
The applicant must apply for registration
on a form provided by the board and
pay the appropriate
fees.

Requirements for a Foreign Pharmacist to be Licensed
in Arkansas
Satisfactory proof of
graduation from a foreign college of pharmacy
and completion of the NABP
transcript verification process;
A completed application for licensure
and payment of the appropriate fees.
Successful completion of a criminal
background check;
Successful completion of the foreign
pharmacy equivalency exam (FPGEE);
Successful completion of TOEFL
within two years of the completion of the FPGEE;
Successful completion of the Arkansas
Jurisprudence Exam;
Successful completion of
2,000 hours of approved intern hours of experience.

Requirements
for a Preceptor’s
Certification
The pharmacist applicant must:
Be an Arkansas pharmacist,
licensed for more than two years, and actively
engaged
in the practice
of
pharmacy for the two years immediately
preceding
the
application for certification.
Be a
full-time
pharmacist
in
a pharmacy which currently
holds
a Class A
rating
Successful
completion of
the preceptor
test.
Have
a pharmacy library;
Not have
been convicted
of any
violation of Arkansas Code §17-92-311
(unless an exemption has been granted
by the Board);
Attend
at least
one professional
meeting
a year;
Agree
to personally
supervise
assigned
interns;
Be a
member
of
a state
organization.
At
least
one
preceptor
or
alternate
at
a site
must be
a
member
of
a
national
organization.
