1Q.
When does the fee I’m paying
take effect?
A.
The renewal fee you are paying is for the next calendar year (i.e. if
this is 2007, you are paying for 2008)..
2Q.
If I plan to place my license on
inactive status for the next calendar year, do I pay a fee?
A. Yes,
if you want your license to remain current.
Otherwise your license will expire.
3Q.
Do I need to complete continuing
education if I plan to be inactive?
A. No,
continuing education is not required to renew your license inactive.
4Q.
When is the deadline to renew my
license?
A. The
deadline to renew all licenses is September 30 to avoid paying an additional
penalty payment.
5Q.
My personal name has changed. What
must I do to correct my name on my license?
A. We
cannot change your name without legal proof. You will need to supply that proof
along with a personal name change document that you can find on our web site
under AREC forms.
6Q.
Can I send my transfer or name
change or post-license education certificate in the same envelope with my
renewal?
A. No.
We ask that you send these items separately.
7Q.
If I wait a few days after mailing
my renewal, can I call your office to see if you received it okay?
A. We
ask that you not. The volume of mail that is received at this time is very
heavy. It delays the process of a speedy renewal.
8Q.
When should I receive my new
license?
A. All
renewed licenses will be mailed the end of December.
9Q.
I just became licensed. Do I need
to renew?
A. If
you were licensed in the current calendar year, you need to renew for the next
calendar year.
10Q.
Do I have to complete both
post-licensure courses and a continuing education course the first year?
A. This depends on the time of
year that you became licensed. Your continuing education requirement begins
after the first renewal of your license. This means you will have to have
completed your continuing education requirement prior to the second renewal of
your real estate license. The post-licensure requirement is separate from and
independent of the continuing education requirement. Your post-licensure
education must be completed within 12 months of the date you applied for your
real estate license.
11Q.
Can post-license courses be taken
for continuing education credit?
A. While
post-license modules can be used for continuing education, a Licensee may not
receive credit for both post-license and continuing education
requirements. It can only be used for one or the other.
