Little Rock, AR – January 21, 2010 –Helping struggling families secure affordable rental housing and move towards financial self-sufficiency is one the goals at the Arkansas Development Finance Authority (ADFA). On Thursday, ADFA’s board of directors awarded $450,000 in Tenant Based Rental Assistance to the White River Regional Housing Authority located in Melbourne, AR to assist approximately 135 tenants in multiple counties and cities in Arkansas (Sharp, White, Izard, Woodruff, Independence and the cities of Newport, Melbourne, Ash Flat, Bradford, McCrory, Augusta, Swifton, Tuckerman, and Batesville).
"Tight financial times can make finding a safe, affordable place to call home an enormous challenge for any family, "said Victor Turner, ADFA HOME Program Manager. "Yesterday’s funding offers our most vulnerable residents a sense of security and builds a foundation for future success."
Funded through the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program and administered by ADFA, TBRA allows organization to provide rental subsidies, utility deposits and security deposits for income-eligible individuals and families. Public housing authorities and non-profit organizations may apply for grants up to $450,000 for tenant based rental assistance.
