Act 505 An Act to authorize independent practice of Psychology by Qualified Persons at the Master's Level Read Act 505 at http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/ftproot/acts/2007/public/act505.pdf The APB is currently drafting Rules and Regulations to enact the provisions of HB1250, now Act 505. A committee has been appointed and will meet at the May 18, 2007 Board meeting as the first step in this process. Once the rules have been drafted, the Board is required by the Administrative Procedures Act, prior to the adoption or amendment of the rule, to give at least thirty (30) days notice of its intended action before a public hearing may be held for public comment. The Board will then formally adopt the revised Rules and Regulations and forward them to the Bureau of Legislative Research for their review and approval at their monthly scheduled meeting. Once the Legislative process has been concluded, the Board then files the Rules and Regulations with the Secretary of State’s Office and ten (10) days later the law is considered final. This process is expected to be concluded approximately by August or September of 2007. The Board will post the Act’s progress on the website as each step of the process is completed. Once the law is enacted we will announce the steps required by which Psychological Examiners may petition the Board for independent practice. Please watch our website for that information.
